Getting Kids Involved

CrossFit Country CrossFit Kids. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, “multiple studies have shown that strength training, with proper technique and strict supervision, can increase strength in preadolescents and adolescents. Frequency, mode (type of resistance), intensity, and duration all contribute to a properly structured program. Increases in strength occur with virtually all modes of strength training.”


Specifically designed for our youngsters, CrossFit Country’s Kids program is the principal strength and conditioning platform upon which many youth athletes base their training practices. It is often also used as the main P.E. curriculum for many home schools and charter schools, and is becoming more and more popular within public schools.

It is used by athletic teams, martial arts schools, and even parents who want to teach their kids how to grow up healthy, strong, and fully engaged in the process of creating an active lifestyle for themselves. Building this foundation helps to curb common problems linked with childhood inactivity and obesity.

Our program provides a fitness curriculum that is, by design, broad, general and all-inclusive. Healthy living demands that our kids execute functional movements on a daily basis: pushing, pulling, running, throwing, climbing, lifting, jumping, etc. Regardless of whether or not they play sports, the safe and successful execution of these movements are a huge part of a young person’s daily life. Additionally, the program we offer is designed with FUN in mind! When children are having fun, and are fully engaged, learning happens. We help the kids in our program associate fitness with fun, and that attitude creates lifelong fitness fanatics!

A study done by the Bone and Joint Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Center at the University of Michigan has found that, “weight bearing exercises especially those that include higher levels of strain such as running or jumping, can be effective in enhancing bone health and preventing future diseases and injury such as osteoporosis and fractures.”

That being said, athletics is a specialized pursuit. The CrossFit Country Kids program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience. We use the same routines for 4 year olds and elite high school athletes, scaling both load and intensity. We don’t change programs. The needs of our second graders and our high school wrestler vary by degree, not kind.

At present, we support CrossFit-style training for ages 6 and up (we will expand in the future).
